EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT-BUSINESS INSURANCE


An Arizona native who graduated from Baylor University in 1992, Russ began his insurance career with the largest independent agency in Arizona. In addition, he worked with a major international insurance broker prior to joining Senn Dunn Insurance in 2003. Russ brings a broad range of risk management and insurance experience in dealing with large commercial accounts and focuses majority of his time in the construction industry. Specifically with general contractors in both the commercial and residential markets all over the southeast. He has led the Senn Dunn Construction Practice Group for several years and is part of the Construction Vertical leadership team for Marsh & McLennan Agency both regionally and nationally.

Russ is involved in several construction associations and sits on the local NAIOP Board. Russ is known to his clients as a valued business partner and one that they can count on to be available when needed, and to go the extra distance on their behalf. A 2005 Leadership Greensboro graduate, Russ is active with his church and with his young family.


DEREK MARTISUS, ACAS, ASA, MAAA

Derek Martisus leads the captive sales efforts for Marsh & McLennan Agency (“MMA”). MMA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marsh, dedicated to serving the insurance needs of middle market companies in the United States. Derek is responsible for providing captive solutions to MMA brokers and their clients across the US, working closely with Marsh and Marsh’s Captive Solutions Group.

Prior to joining MMA, Derek worked for Performa Limited, an asset management firm specializing in captive portfolios, where he was Head of US Insurance Solutions with primary responsibility for marketing, business development and client relationship management. Prior to joining Performa, Derek was a VP and Quantitative Analyst with Dwight Asset Management, supporting Dwight’s insurance clients. Derek spent the prior six years working as an actuarial consultant with Marsh Management Services. Derek is a credentialed life as well as P&C actuary. Derek earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. from Binghamton University.

STEVE NORTON
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHAIRMAN, MMA CAPTIVE CENTER OF EXCELLENCE


Steve joined J. Smith Lanier & Co. (JSL) in 2003 to establish the firm’s Alternative Risk Financing and Captive Insurance Company practice after spending nearly 10 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) where he led their Insurance & Risk Management Consulting Practice in London and Atlanta. In February, 2017, JSL merged with Marsh McLennan Agency, LLC (MMA) and Steve was named Chairman of the MMA Captive Center of Excellence in August, 2017.

While at PwC Steve worked with many Fortune 1,000 companies to design and develop their insurance and risk management programs which, in many cases, included captive insurance companies. Some of the captives Steve established or re-purposed while at PwC include those for Home Depot, Sprint, Tootsie Roll, Nabors Industries, Siemens, Cardinal Health, Securitas and Regis Corporation.

TIM WARD, CPCU, CIC
EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT-BUSINESS INSURANCE

Tim Ward has over 40 years of experience in Property & Casualty Insurance. He joined Senn Dunn/Marsh & McLennan Agency in 1988 after working for several P&C Companies and Agencies. Tim has a BS in Business Administration from UNC-CH. He has a background in every facet of the insurance industry. 

Time works with clients on their Business Insurance coverage's, specializing in handling the risk management and exposures associated with large manufacturers, suppliers, property owners, hospitality and professional offices. He has an extensive background in Personal Insurance and Life Insurance coverage's, in addition to managing the Medical Professional Liability division at MMA. With more than 25 years of experience in the Malpractice field, he is recognized statewide for his expertise on issues involving insurance and the Medical Profession. 

Active in the industry, Tim has served on the board of directors of the Piedmont Chapter of the Chartered Property CasualtyUnderwriters Society (CPCU), the Society of Financial Service Professionals (SFSP), the North Carolina Reinsurance Facility and the North Carolina Association of Insurance Agents. He is one of the senior members of the IIANC Technical Committee, a resource for agents seeking technical help on complex issues. One of his focus ares is the rapidly growing exposure to Cyber Liability/Data Breach losses and how to address them.
