Afi is a North Carolina Board Certified Family Law Specialist practicing in Greensboro, NC with Johnson-Parris Law.
She is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law and a published member of its Law Review. Afi attended the University of Miami on a ROTC scholarship and graduated with a BBA in Computer Information Systems. Before law school, she served her country as an officer in the Air Force and earned an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix- Southern Colorado. After law school, Afi began practicing complex civil litigation with a large Atlanta firm, then relocated to Greensboro to practice employment and civil litigation. In 2008 she began practicing divorce and family law and became a Specialist in 2013. Afi has been recognized as a Lawyers Weekly Woman of Justice, as a Super Lawyer, in Best Lawyers in America and as the 2017 Business North Carolina Legal Elite overall winner in Family Law. She is the current chair of the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section. Afi is also active in the community having served on several local, state-wide and national boards. A native of Newport News, Virginia, she enjoys gardening, theater, music, and Parris family adventures with her husband Steven and children Chela, age 14 and Richmond, age 12.
Elaine is a Specialist in Family Law certified by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization, a Family Financial Mediator certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission, and a trained Collaborative Divorce Professional. Elaine was included in the 2019 Best Lawyers in America Family Law Section. She is focused exclusively on family law and divorce issues.
Elaine holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Masters of Music from Southern Methodist University. Elaine received her law degree from North Carolina Central University in 1998.
